Viewing this Site
I
expect most of you bright sparks will have few problems
navigating your way around the site, and will even stumble
across the occasional Easter egg in the process. Either
way, here are few pointers to help you on your way.
Some technical blurb follows.
Images
Images are arranged in folios by country & fall
into 6 different regions -
Asia.
Africa,
Europe,
Australasia
& Pacific, The
Middle East and
The
Americas.
A complete list of these countries can be viewed
here.
Not all countries are represented, only those I've had
the good fortune of visiting to date.
On
the main gallery pages an overview of the gallery's
contents are shown as small, 'thumbnails.' Clicking
on these images will take you to a larger version. These
scans are still way to small & compressed to print
well (so don't bother wasting the ink & paper !)
Images are also presented in Special Galleries by theme
- e.g., Textiles,
Textures,
Buddhism, Portraits
etc (see side bar, left.)
When
I'm not travelling (& taking photos) I regularly
prepare more material so it's always worth checking
the updates
page on a revisit. I'm also adding
additional galleries for some destinations & themes
already featured.
The Site Caption list
provides a comprehensive overview of all images on the
site (except more recent additions which I'll add in
due course.)
Underneath (most) images you
will find the following symbols:-
 |
=
View previous image in country folio |
 |

View next image in country folio |
I'm
gradually updating all pages to include these navigation
arrows (but still have hundreds of pages to do !)
Monitor
Gamma
Macs & PCs use different monitor standards.
If you're viewing this site on a PC, which has a darker
Gamma setting of 2.2 as opposed to the Mac's 1.8, the
images may appear rather dark. If you'd like to reduce
this differential, please lighten your monitor settings
to redress the balance. You'll find a brightness control
somewhere on your monitor (or in your control panels
setting).
Text Size
We have used plain text rather than image text on the
Tribaleye site in order to minimise download times.
Therefore the size of the text will depend on your screen
resolution and browser settings. If the text is too
large/small for you try this:- Look for the 'View' menu
at the top of your screen, drag down on that and look
for 'text size' / 'text zoom' (or similar.) You will
be able to increase/decrease text size there. This site
appears best at Text Size, "smaller" on a
PC browser (IE5), and at "100%" (font size
12) on a Mac (IE5)

Restrictions & Copyright
Some heavyweight legal jargon to protect my efforts:
Images on this site are legally protected by International
Copyright laws and may not
be copied and used for reproduction in any
manner unless agreed by the photographer in writing.
All images are for web-browser viewing only. Usage of
any image, including links to these images from other
sites must be negotiated. No image on this site may
be used for any purpose
without express written consent. Unauthorised duplication
or usage of these images is prohibited by international
copyright Law. In the event of infringement, the infringer
will be charged triple the industry standard fee for
usage &/or prosecuted for © infringement where
they will be subject to stautory damages of up to $100,000
in addition to legal costs.
Development Notes
This
site was designed on an Apple
PowerMac G4 system running OS9 & OSX. Dreamweaver,
Photoshop, Fireworks & Transmit(ftp) have all proved
very apt at the task. A Nikon filmscanner provides the
scans, derived from 35mm slide film.
